That Mr. Tuttles!!

I've been 'refurbishing' Mr. Tuttles' house. The above photo shows Mr. Tuttles in a handsome pose while in the back of his new remodel. It seems he just keeps growing. He really scraped the top of his shell across the top last year. So this morning, I moved all the dirt, pulled up all the boards and insulation, and then dug his den deeper and wider.

After listening to him crawl in and out a few times, and not hearing any scraping, I'm confident, for now, that the extra room will make him more comfortable. Tortoise dens are supposed to be a snug fit. I don't want to make it too big.

And Mr. Tuttles will re-arrange some of the dirt, excavating until he feels it is fit. That I will then find in piles at the front door of his den. His own way of creating a desert patio. For Mojito drinking I'm guessing.

That Mr. Tuttles. Too funny. I just adore him.

It's not everyone who would be concerned that a tortoise was scraping his shell in his den--that Mr. Tuttles is lucky to have found you!
