Black Clapotis III

Three summers in the making, she is finally done!! Black Clapotis III.

All cotton. For our desert heat.

She is 'flatter' than the wool Clapotis' I have made. And larger too, even though I made her to pattern specifications.

And of course, I used my Clapotis Spreadsheet.

I've very pleased with the final result.

Long rivers of black cotton.

Cool breaks of drop stitches.

A perfect cover-up for the shockingly cool 65* interior temps of city buildings...

...from the 112* desert heat here in the city.

Clapotis Spreadsheet Update

I went in and changed my Clapotis spreadsheet. The link is located in the right hand column.

The Section 5, Row 2, first stitch has been changed from a ‘K1’ to ‘P1.’

Don't forget, the original is at http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html.

Still working on weaving in the ends on my Black Clapotis. Sigh.

We HAD Rain! WOOT!

Rain, rain, rain. Yes! And boy, do we need it. Problem it, this is what happens when we, in the desert, get rain TOO FAST. Fortunately, all is well and drying off at my house. Which fared fine, thank you very much.

Mr. Tuttles' den is a tee bit wet on the 'porch,' but the interior is good and dry.

Just Notes:

Blog Photographs: I think my blog is taking WAY to much time to load because of the three slide shows I've added from my trip. The Picasa Web Album slide shows are great. But I think I'm going to just include a link to Picasa Web Albums and if somebody wants to see them, they can click on over.

While it will somewhat lessen the over all view of the trip on the blog, I think the blog will load faster. Has it loaded slow for you? Please let me know by clicking on 'comments' on the end of this post and let me know. Thanks.

On the Boat: Wrapped the wiring that goes from the batteries to the bilge around where the engine and prop shaft meet. Note to self: Kim -- NEVER do anything 'till you've had a LEAST 2 cups of coffee. It really wasn't my fault. It is an install issue from when it was installed before. Boring story, look away.

At this point it's been 2 days, a trip to Lowe's and finally a trip to West Marine with no working bilge pump and THAT makes a redhead slightly nervous. Because a boat ON the water would really like to be a boat IN the water. Just take my word for it.

Currently HAVE PROPER wire in hand. I did get the INCORRECT wire at Lowe's. Made trip to boat last night to re-wire. Realized I had the WRONG wire. Slept on boat. Woke up at 3:30 am to pounding rain on boat. Happy to be inside. Happy to see rain. Happy to hear thunder and see lightening. Still unhappy about incorrect wiring, but what the hell, it was a great storm!

Correct wire picked up today. Back to rewire bilge pump within 24 hours.

Knitting: Four projects at the same time: Yes, I am nuts. STILL finishing Black Clapotis. (Or Clapotis III.) Started Working on two tanks, one black and one rust. And, trying to start a new pair of socks. Toe up! Toe up!! If I can just get the things started off correctly.

Practiced a 'Magic Cast On' last night, while on the boat, about 5 times.

Knitting+Boat=Love.

I'm having a hard time trying to go from 2 circular needles to one. ::thhhthhtptttput and sigh::

No worries, I'll figure it out later. Sockssssssssssss......yes my pretty. MORE socks in my future.

Lots of other boring stuff, nothing of other interest to run up the flag pole here.

I'll get pictures from the rest of my trip THROUGH the Redwoods up later this week. I promise.

Oh, don't forget! There is a Lunar Eclipse tonight. Really it's Tuesday A.M. Set your clocks!

Chevron Scarf Yuck

I'm having some 'yuck' issues with one of two colors that I picked out for the 'Chevron Scarf' from "Last Minute Gifts."

I'm knitting with "Socks That Rock" yarns from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. I LOVE the way the yarn feels but am NOT liking my color combo.....

Fun and easy pattern to knit.

But is it me or......

Does the 'G-Rock' colorway have WAY MORE YELLOW and PINK in it than what shows from the computer picture on their website copied below?

Not much yellow in the photo above. But, boy oh boy, is there yellow in the skein that showed up at my door!
Really, I just can't stand YELLOW and I am always uncertain about pink. I think to the frog pond it goes and I must find another color to use.
'Yuck' is all that keeps going through my mind on the G-Rocks colorway. Yuck.
There. Knitting. I have been knitting. I'm down to less than 50 stitches on my 'Black Clapotis.' I also have a few other knitting projects marinading in my brain.
One being 'Ene's Scarf' from "Scarf Style." How pretty is THAT?
Side Note: I am sooooo disliking Blogger, Picasa and BlogThis. Takes WAY TO LONG to load up more than four lousy pictures. And the new HTML coding on Blogger is a nightmare to work thru when trying to just adjust the layout and spacing of a few damn lines. Grrmmmmbbblllll....
Google has ruined Blogger and Picasa I think. Every time I have to blog it irritates me; it used to be so easy. Now it takes at least 30 minutes to do anything and have it look reasonable.

Knitting and Flowers and Killer Tortoises Oh My!

STILL working on Black Clapotis. I'm on the home stretch as it were as the decrease section is worked until I can't keep my eyes open. At the same time, I'm trying to get thru the 2nd Harry Potter DVD. Then on to the rest of the series to hopefully finish up by the time the 7th and final book come out. Such an exciting life.......

Haven't dropped the stitches yet except in the lower corner.

My backyard is in bloom, bloom, bloom. One of my Palo Verde trees in covered in these huge blossoms!

There are bee bodies in there somewhere!

Guess who woke up a few weeks ago! He's really just this week starting to get hungry as we once again hit the 90*s.

And, here's your giggle for the day. A "Killer Tortoise" oh my.

Knitting!! Color and Black Clapotis

Sometimes, I still knit. I finally finished Karen's Christmas present (Shut Up, yes I did). It's a house pattern from my LYS Gail Knits. It's basically a triangle neck-scarf made from Prism's 'Cool Stuff.' I'm going to add a tassel to the bottom point I think.

And then, there is the Black Clapotis. Also known as Clapotis III. As in it is my THIRD Clapotis. I am bound and determined to get this one done for summer. I've been working on this for a few years as I keep setting it aside to start on Christmas presents. And we can see how well I get THOSE done on time (just Shut UP...stop laughing and no snickering..stop it). It's a cotton yarn so it will be perfect for desert wear.

Black Clapotis

The link to my Clapotis Spreadsheet is here and on the sidebar. It's an excel file ready for download. It's the original one I uploaded to the Yahoo Clapotis Group years ago. Knitty has the original knitting pattern. Along with many other fabulous FREE patterns.

I have been trying to knit while watching evening TV and Clapotis is a good knit for that type of sitting. After figuring out FBS, that was a reasonable TV knit too.

I feel undetermined lace project coming on (I did so love knitting the Flower Basket Shawl) or possibly this:

Scarf and Photo by Dogged (Ashley)

I ran across this on Ashley's site 'Dogged' and just fell in love with the colors and pattern. The book is available at my library and I'm sure I can order the yarn on the net. Or maybe find something I like equally well in my stash boxES. Hehehhhe.

Pattern: Chevron Scarf from "Last Minute Knitted Gifts"
Yarn: 'Socks That Rock' medium weight in Watermelon Tourmaline and Farmhouse.
Needles: Clover Bamboo straights, size 5

I just love the colors in this scarf. Very unlike me. It just seems I need to knit this. Maybe it's Spring or something.

And having just come the Botanical Medicine conference, can I please tell you to start or eat more CURRY. And remember, curry is a mixture of spices...it's NOT one spice. So, look for a blend you like. It helps lower your blood pressure. Of course, you can take many of these spices in a capsule but....it tastes so damn good when you find one you like. YUM.

And Copper, we need copper.

Clapotis Spreadsheet

I've had a number of requests for my Clapotis Spreadsheet excel file. So, here you go!!

I'll also post this all Elvis-like on the sidebar permanently. Send an email or link in comments when you're done so I can see what an incredible Clapotis you have added to the universe!
