Mr. Tuttles Woke Up Today
Look who came rambling out of hibernation today. Is this not the CUTEST face on the planet???? I present Mr. Tuttles.....
How big is he? Well, that's a garbage can top full of water that he's walking thru.
One of the first things that happens when a desert tortoise wakes up is that they usually want to drink some water and lay in the sun. He's now napping, gathering up the rays of warmth. He'll be awake until Sept or Oct, when he then disappears to slumber again until when this whole crazy cycle starts again in the spring.
For now, he'll start his cycle of eating me out of house and home for the next six months. I'm sooooo happy to see him again, he's been a companion for 20 years!
