Red Rock State Park Fires & One Cool FBS

FINALLY got past the Lower Section of the Flower Basket Shawl. AND added one repeat to the the first section of the Repeat Section. Ok, I've frogged this FOUR times. I'm now ready to KNIT it.

FBS

I really like this yarn. It has held up well to the frinking frogging! It doesn't really split very much which makes an easy knit.

Red Rock State Park is about 30 minutes from my house. I'm always so sad to see parts of it burn. Hopefully it will be contained and put out VERY soon.

From the LV RJ:

"The top priorities for firefighters on Wednesday, however, were five smaller blazes in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Those fires, which totaled 200 acres late Wednesday, are of greater concern because of their proximity to residences.

The largest fire at Red Rock enveloped about 10 acres of grasses, pines and Joshua trees about a mile from the loop road. Flames and thick white smoke obscured the mountains in the canyon, popular with cyclists, rock climbers and hikers.

About 40 firefighters tried to tame the blaze on the ground, while Forest Service helicopters repeatedly executed water dumps. Despite those efforts, the fire continued to spread on a day that saw the high temperature at McCarran International Airport reach 99 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The scattered showers that fell across Southern Nevada provided little help in extinguishing the fires. "

Mt. Charleston is about 45 minutes away. This is going to be a very scary season for the people that live up there.

So, the green has turned to tinder. It's going to be a smoking West this summer.

Not scared. There's about a bizillion (that's a technical number) houses between me and that fire. It's very far away from me. I am worried about all the Mr. Tuttles up there though. Sigh

It is really bad out here in Arizona, too. We had such a lovely, green spring and all that green is now fuel. Very scary.

Your FBS is looking gorgeous! Thanks for the pictures, now I understand the direction this stupid thing is supposed to be going in.
